Services for children with learning disabilities in Scarborough
In order to provide respite for families, we provide 1:1 or 2:1 care and support for their children and for young people from 5 to 25 years of age, when they complete their transition from children’s to adults' services.

Group activities after school, at weekends and in school holidays

There are three different age groups:
  • Adventurers (5-11 years)
  • Buccaneers (11-16 years)
  • Explorers (16-25 years)

The varied activities they undertake include:

  • Using our on-site sensory room
  • Visits to parks and attractions
  • Indoor and outdoor games
  • Music and craft activities
  • Going to the beach
  • Visits to forests and play farms
  • Barbecues and picnics

Flexible care for children and young people

These are tailored packages of 1:1 or 2:1 personalised care and support for individual children/young people and can be provided in their own homes, at our centre or in the community. Typically, service users receiving this person-centred care and support might receive assistance with:
•    Personal care such as bathing and getting ready for school
•    Having their tea and getting ready for bed
•    The safe administration of their medication
•    Helping families to access healthcare appointments
•    Opportunities to socialise with their peers
