Support for adults with  learning disabilities in Scarborough
We are a well-respected and independent local charity providing specialist care and support for children and adults with learning disabilities and other complex needs

An opportunity to work with us

At Scarborough & District Mencap, we have regular job opportunities. We provide a full induction and gold-standard training package for new appointees and regular, paid update/refresher training throughout our employees' time with us.
We are constantly reviewing our staff team to ensure that we have the necessary skillsets and experience levels to meet the ever-changing needs of our current service users. We therefore have regular recruitment rounds for full-time, part-time and relief support workers to work with children and adults with a learning disability. We want to hear from people who will encourage and enable people with learning disabilities to lead fulfilling lives based around their individual needs.

At Scarborough & District Mencap, we provide:

  • Support for parents and carers at our weekly parents' groups
  • Fundraising opportunities and events, such as coffee mornings, tombolas and raffles.
  • Speakers, who discuss important topics such as changes to benefits, assessment arrangements, and accessing the services of the disability support nurses at the hospital
  • Care and support for children and adults with learning disabilities
Parents and carers are always welcome to come and look around Brookleigh, and to discuss their needs with managers and key workers.

Scarborough & District Mencap is an equal opportunities employer and operates safer recruitment procedures. As part of our commitment to the safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults, volunteers will also be required to undergo an enhanced DBS clearance and provide two satisfactory references prior to taking up their placement.
