Our teatime service and evening activities
Operating from 4.00pm Monday-Friday, the tea service provides a two-course meal with a varied menu choice. Service users will engage in supervised activities, as a bridge between the day services and the evening activities. This supervised time helps to promotes independence, and provides parents and carers with a longer period of respite.
Our evening activities provide opportunities for adult service users to meet up with friends.
This is a national Mencap initiative and has just celebrated its 50th anniversary. Members gather on Tuesday evenings, and can choose from a wide range of activities each month. Recent activities have included:
A barbecue in our sensory garden
• Film nights with popcorn
• Themed nights such as 'make your own pizza' and a Mexican evening with fajitas
• Making bird boxes with the help of a local conservation group
• Outside speakers, such as a police dog handler who showed service users how the dogs are trained to work
Approximately thirty adult service users meet each Thursday evening to devise and rehearse our annual show for its performance at the local YMCA Theatre. The group enjoy singing, dancing, actions and sinhalong, with a wide range of genres of song in the mix.
Every Monday and Friday, and every other Saturday, adults of all ages can enjoy taking turns to hone their DJing skills, whilst spinning their favourite tunes, on our very own decks.
